How can I renew my library materials?

Stop by the library or call us at 985-5124.  You may also renew online using your library card number and password by clicking here.

How do I make a suggestion for the library system to purchase items they don't currently own?

Stop by the library and ask for a request form.  We can either purchase or interlibrary loan almost all materials that you might want.  Requests typically take two weeks, so plan ahead.

What are the fines for overdue materials?

Pierson Library does not charge fines on materials.  We charge replacement costs for any lost or damaged items, and other libraries might charge fines on their materials borrowed with your Pierson Library card.

I would like to volunteer at the library, how do I get started?

Great!  Please visit our page on volunteering for job descriptions, an application and more information.

Do you accept donations?

Yes!  The Friends of Pierson Library accept two bags or boxes of material in good condition (hardcover, softcover) per week per family.  These items are either added to the collection or sold in the semi-annual book sale to raise funds for the library. If you are interested in donating money to the library, please contact the library director at 264-5017 to discuss the many ways you can support Pierson’s programs, services and collections.

Can I host a program or hold a meeting at the library?

Definitely!  The library has sponsored programs as well as space for patrons to host their own programs and meetings.  Visit our Meeting Rooms page for more information on meeting spaces, and call the library at 985-5124 if you’d be interested in offering a program.

What policies are in place for the library?

The Library's full Policy Manual has all the details on our board-approved policies and procedures.

Does the library have a Strategic Plan?

Yes we do, you can read all about our vision for Pierson Library's future!

What can you tell me about the Pencil sculpture?

The artists name is Chris Sharp, a Shelburne resident. The inscription with the sculpture is: "Our future is filled with miraculous possibilities and seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Clearly, there is a better life for us out there. A life where we live in harmony with ourselves and with this glorious, precious, Earth. This balance will not occur by chance. With deliberate vision and exceptional effort, we will orchestrate a sustainable world for our grandchildren and their grandchildren's grandchildren. In the minds of today's children, we will create humanity's salvation. Let us start educating tomorrow's visionaries today. Education will save the world." A loving tribute to Loraine Colman.
