Position Summary:

As the Adult Programming & Engagement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing, organizing, and facilitating an exciting array of programs, services, and outreach initiatives tailored to our adult audience. Your creativity and innovation will shine as you create opportunities for connection, education, and entertainment. This full-time (40 hours a week), in-person position includes a rotation of evening and weekend hours to accommodate the needs of our community.

Salary & Benefits: Starting salary of $40,500 plus benefits and participation in VMERS.

SUMMARY

The Adult Programming & Engagement Specialist develops, coordinates, and facilitates a variety of library programs, services and outreach to adult customers, and organizes and facilitates community engagement events to meet customer needs. The Adult Programming & Engagement Specialist reports to the Library Director. The position is an in-person, full time, 40 hours per week position including a rotation of evening and weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Act as the lead for developing, organizing and implementing both new and existing adult programs that fit with the library’s focus areas.

b) Host programs and coordinate with volunteers to assist with hosting programs.

c) Market programs through a variety of established channels in conjunction with the library’s marketing team.

d) Keep current with trends in culture, the arts, and technology to help create innovative and cutting-edge programming.

e) Keep accurate statistics on program attendance.

f) Maintain a budget for programming, working with the library director and Friends to allocate available funds in an efficient manner.

g) Contribute meaningfully to a welcoming community atmosphere both in the library and in library outreach activities.

h) Develop proficiency with the library's circulation software to help patrons at the library's service desks.

i) Work an average of 10 hours per week at a public service desk.

j) Other duties as assigned.

In addition, this position will occasionally assist other staff members with general library operations and perform other library duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Possess a bachelor’s degree or be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the minimum qualifications listed, the ideal candidate for the role of Adult Programming & Engagement Specialist will possess the following preferred qualifications:

1. Experience in Adult Programming: Proven experience in planning, organizing, and executing diverse and engaging programs for adults within a library or cultural institution.

2. Marketing and Promotion Skills: Proficiency in marketing and promoting library events and programs through various channels, including social media, email marketing, and other advertising methods.

3. Technological Proficiency: Advanced skills in utilizing emerging technologies and software to enhance program delivery, such as virtual event platforms, graphic design software, and multimedia equipment.

4. Project Management Expertise: Strong project management skills with a track record of successful program development, including budget management, scheduling, and evaluation.

5. Collaborative Spirit: A team player who can collaborate effectively with colleagues, community organizations, and partners to expand the reach and impact of adult programs.

6. Creative Thinker: Able to bring fresh, innovative ideas to develop new and exciting adult programs that cater to a diverse audience.

7. Data Analysis and Assessment: Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and program assessment to continuously improve program offerings based on community feedback and needs.

We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, and dedicated Library Substitute to join our team on an as-needed basis for weekend shifts to work directly with the public at our service desks.

Position Summary:

As a Library Paid Substitute, you will play a crucial role in supporting the library's operations. Your responsibilities will include assisting library patrons at our service desks, providing reference and reader advisory services, and assisting other staff members in library operations. This position as-needed basis for Saturday and Sunday shifts, depending on Libr needs, including evening and weekend hours.

Salary: Starting hourly wage of $16.50 an hour.

SUMMARY

The Library Paid Substitute is responsible for assisting circulation duties at the front desk and the youth area. The position is on an as-needed basis, depending on Library Desk Coverage needs, including evening and weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are included. Other duties may be assigned. The Library Paid Substitute shall:

1. Run the circulation desk.

2. Proficient in the use of the integrated library system. Knowledgeable in the use of existing and emerging technologies (e-books, downloadable audio, etc.)

3. Provide reference and reader advisory services to patrons including displays and brochures.

4. Assist other staff members in library operations.

5. Take individual responsibility for working in a safe manner and adhere to the Town’s safety policies.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.
