Unhoused Voices: A Pop-up Book Club and Community Discussion About Homelessness

March 25 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for a discussion of Rough Sleepers by Tracy Kidder. This powerful work follows Dr. Jim O’Connell, a Boston physician who devoted his career to bringing compassionate, street-based health care to people experiencing homelessness. After being asked to delay a prestigious fellowship for a one-year project, O’Connell found his life’s calling—building a model of care rooted in dignity, trust, and what he calls “a system of friends.” Copies are available to borrow at the library’s first-floor circulation desk. Following our book conversation, Shelburne’s Social Services Committee Chair Sean Moran and Brandie Benoit, Board of Directors Chair of the Shelburne Food Shelf, will share what they’re seeing locally from a boots-on-the-ground perspective, along with practical ways you can support unhoused neighbors in our community. All are welcome to join this timely and important discussion.
