Shelburne’s Celebration of the Declaration of Independence

Come celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We will be visited by time travelers, members of the Declaration Committee (including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin), who will explain why independence was necessary and possible. We will also hear from men and women who experienced the trials of the Revolutionary War and the challenges of survival in the wilds of northern Vermont in the late 18th century. Lastly, members of the Shelburne community will read the entire Declaration of Independence. With song, humor, and patriotic spirit, we will commemorate the birth of the United States of America and the democratic form of governance.
