Monday Morning Book Club: Flashlight

Join us for a discussion of Flashlight by National Book Award–winning author Susan Choi. One summer night, ten-year-old Louisa takes a walk with her father along a breakwater. He is carrying a flashlight and cannot swim. By morning, Louisa is found alone on the beach, soaked and barely alive—her father has vanished. In the aftermath, Louisa and her mother, Anne, struggle to rebuild their lives while haunted by unanswered questions. Spanning decades and continents, Flashlight explores family history, displacement, and grief, asking what really happened that night and how the past continues to shape the present.
