Great Films Directed by Women Screening: The Farewell

This month, in honor of women’s history, we’re celebrating films from female-identifying and/or XX-chromosomal-pair-having folx! First up is 2019’s The Farewell directed by Lulu Wang. Cultures clash when American Billi (played by Akwafina) is tasked with keeping her Chinese Nai Nai’s terminal diagnosis secret from her. A heartwarming comedy-drama that manages to be both universal and culturally specific. Run time: 100 min.
