SUMMARY:Caregiver Empowerment from the Inside Out
DESCRIPTION:Caregiving can be both deeply meaningful and incredibly demanding. In this interactive presentation\, empowerment coach Deb Chisholm guides caregivers to reconnect with their inner power — the ability to stay grounded\, calm\, and confident even in challenging moments. Through stories\, reflection\, and practical tools\, participants will learn how to quiet the inner critic\, strengthen their resilience\, and shift from coping to steady ground. They’ll experience a simple guided exercise to help reduce stress in real time and discover the four keys to caregiver empowerment: awareness\, mindset\, connection\, and action. Gain uplift and support to bring more balance\, clarity\, and self-compassion to your caregiving journey with us at this inspiring talk!

SUMMARY:Coffee and Conversation: Senior Living
DESCRIPTION:This month Coffee and Conversation invites you to reflect on or share about the experience of being a senior citizen. What is unique to this phase of life? Does our culture offer enough respect to its elders? How can our society better accommodate the needs\, perspectives\, and experience of this segment of the population? Coffee and Conversation is an open invite to share and communicate with neighbors over a cup of joe and a tasty donut. We’ll fearlessly and respectfully tackle any topic knowing that while we may not always agree\, we’ll always be able to meet.

SUMMARY:Spring Art Opening
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the season at the library’s Spring Art Opening\, featuring artists Megan M. Mann and Stacey Stanhope-Dundon\, along with a special display of student artwork from Champlain Valley Union High School. Megan M. Mann will display paintings inspired by Vermont’s landscapes\, food\, and farming. A lifelong artist and trained art therapist\, Mann’s work reflects more than 15 years exploring the connection between creativity and emotional wellbeing\, capturing the vibrant aliveness of food from farm to table through color and texture. Stacey Stanhope-Dundon will exhibit pottery and a selection of paintings. Her ceramic pieces combine illustration with hand-thrown forms\, decorated using wax and black slip techniques and high-fired in a salt kiln to create the distinctive sheen of salt-fired pottery. The exhibition also features the class of 2026 Senior Art Show from Champlain Valley Union High School. Join us to welcome spring and celebrate creativity in our community!

SUMMARY:The Underwater Archaeology of the American Revolution on Lake Champlain
DESCRIPTION:This presentation from Chris Sabick of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum will share information on a number of previous\, recent\, and current research efforts focused on the Revolutionary War in general\, and the Battle of Valcour Bay (October 1776) and its aftermath. Archaeological excavations at Valcour Bay\, Arnold’s Bay\, and recent documentation and research efforts on the gunboat Spitfire will be discussed. The combination of historical research and archaeological evidence leads to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the pivotal events that took place on Lake Champlain in 1776. This event is co-sponsored by the Shelburne Historical Society and Vermont Humanities Council and is presented in accordance with this year’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
