DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We will be visited by time travelers\, members of the Declaration Committee (including Thomas Jefferson\, John Adams\, and Benjamin Franklin)\, who will explain why independence was necessary and possible. We will also hear from men and women who experienced the trials of the Revolutionary War and the challenges of survival in the wilds of northern Vermont in the late 18th century. Lastly\, members of the Shelburne community will read the entire Declaration of Independence. With song\, humor\, and patriotic spirit\, we will commemorate the birth of the United States of America and the democratic form of governance.  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Country in the Mirror is a brand-new and urgent anthology edited by Sharon Darrow\, out now from Rootstock Publishing. The book\, an anthology of protest and witness poems\, is a response to the troubles of our time. DESCRIPTION:Vermont State Archaeologist Jess Robinson will give an overview of a precontact Native history of the Eastern Champlain Valley from the first human entrants in the region until the time of European contact as it has been revealed through archaeology. He will highlight some notable archaeological sites and offer insights into the first peoples of the region gained from over 50 years of professional archaeological work in Vermont. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
