The statue was created by artist Chris Sharp\, renowned for his art including the pencil sculpture in front of the library and fire hydrant sculptures visible on Shelburne Road. This striking representation of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech has been displayed in prominent locations\, including the White House\, the Smithsonian\, and various National Parks. A reception will follow the dedication from 4:0pm to 5:00pm\, featuring light refreshments and a brief program celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We look forward to celebrating this important moment with you.

We’re offering prizes and recognition to top poets in four categories: elementary school (K-4)\, middle school (5-8)\, high school (9-12)\, and adult (two winners in this category).
