DESCRIPTION:This Burlington-based chorus performs a cappella music\, encourages new compositions\, and fosters the joyful and thought-provoking expression of music. Social Band organizes its programs around themes\, weaving poetry and song together to create an experience that feeds both hearts and heads. This performance will honor the arrival of springtime with songs that express the nuances of transformation and the cycles of life\, whether it be lessons learned from growing plants or molting insects. An independent musician\, Army veteran\, and banjo-and guitar-slinging storyteller\, his latest album Tarwater ranges across the tent of Americana and folk\, drawing from the sounds of country\, gospel\, blues and roots rock\, with a touch of banjo-driven oldtime\, and is based on the short fiction of Southern Gothic Georgia author Flannery O’Connor and where her characters intersect with his own experiences growing up in a Pentecostal military family with Southern roots. Expect an evening of traditional folk tunes\, original songs and stories with this North Carolina traveling talent!
