SUMMARY:Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Death Cafes offer a welcoming space to gather and increase awareness of death so we can make the most of our finite lives. Moderated by Shelburne resident Nick Marconi\, these intimate monthly discussions provide an opportunity to share stories\, voice concerns\, ask questions\, and reflect together on this universal part of life. Conversations vary depending on who’s in the room. They may explore existential or philosophical themes\, or shift toward practical topics such as DNR forms\, wills\, and rights of survivorship. While these discussions can be challenging\, open and heartfelt dialogue helps build community and fosters a sense of connection that enriches our lives in the present. To register\, call the library at 802-985-5124.

Moderated by Shelburne resident Nick Marconi\, these intimate monthly discussions are a place to voice concerns\, share stories\, ask questions\, and think together about this fact of life. SUMMARY:Pop-up Book Club: The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning
DESCRIPTION:On facing our eventual demise\, beyond estates\, wills\, and directives\, there is an additional consideration: what to do with all our stuff? The Swedes have a name for this\, döstädning\, or death cleaning\, the gentle art of minimal owning to lighten the burden on our survivors. With kind humor and a necessary lightness for the potentially hard topic\, Magnusson details the concept brilliantly in The New York Times bestseller\, The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. This pop-up book club conversation will be facilitated by space doula Tana Paddock and organization and productivity consultant Jo Durocher. Limited copies of the book are available to borrow at the first-floor information desk.

SUMMARY:Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Death Cafés are welcoming spaces where people come together to talk openly about death\, with the goal of making the most of our finite lives. Moderated by Shelburne resident Nick Marconi\, these intimate monthly gatherings offer a chance to voice concerns\, share personal stories\, ask questions\, and reflect on one of life’s universal truths. Each conversation is shaped by who’s in the room. Some sessions may wander into philosophical or existential territory\, while others focus on practical matters like DNR forms\, wills\, or rights of survivorship. It’s not always an easy conversation\, but when we speak from the heart\, we build deeper community and uncover a special kind of joy that brings meaning to the present.
