SUMMARY:Social Band: Spring Concert
DESCRIPTION:It’s the time of year when things are on the move and Social Band\, that Burlington-based chorus of a cappella choral performers\, will honor the springtime by featuring newly commissioned works by Vermont composers\, with interweaving of song and poetry and premier compositions by in-house artists. This season’s offerings dwell on themes of birdsong\, gardening\, and the great outdoors. In addition to the new compositions\, the band will perform Renaissance pieces by Josquin de Prez and Clement Janequin. DESCRIPTION:North Carolina folksinger and songwriter Colin Cutler is making town hall his Vermont stop on a North American tour! An independent musician\, Army veteran\, and banjo-and guitar-slinging storyteller\, his latest album Tarwater ranges across the tent of Americana and folk\, drawing from the sounds of country\, gospel\, blues and roots rock\, with a touch of banjo-driven oldtime\, and is based on the short fiction of Southern Gothic Georgia author Flannery O’Connor and where her characters intersect with his own experiences growing up in a Pentecostal military family with Southern roots. Expect an evening of traditional folk tunes\, original songs and stories with this North Carolina traveling talent! Space is limited to 50\, feel free to call ahead to secure a spot or just show up\, first-come\, first-serve.
