DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us for the unveiling of a sculpture honoring Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. at the Pierson Library. The statue was created by artist Chris Sharp\, renowned for his art including the pencil sculpture in front of the library and fire hydrant sculptures visible on Shelburne Road. This striking representation of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech has been displayed in prominent locations\, including the White House\, the Smithsonian\, and various National Parks. A reception will follow the dedication from 4:0pm to 5:00pm\, featuring light refreshments and a brief program celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We look forward to celebrating this important moment with you.

DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family to the Pierson Library on Sunday\, January 12th from 2-4 p.m. to celebrate the launch of the library’s new Art Exchange Program\, which brings creative works from outside Shelburne to our community. This first exhibition\, in collaboration with Keen Arts from New York\, features painter Mike Kaz and sculptor Matt Horner in Twists and Turns. The show is inspired by Alpinist Mark Newcomb’s reflection: “It’s the little decisions in your life that connect one by one\, as points in time. The sum total of these points becomes a line and that line is your life.” Download Spotify and bring your earbuds—the exhibition will feature a custom soundtrack! Meet the artists\, enjoy refreshments\, and enter raffles for a chance to win beautiful artwork donated by the Shelburne Craft School. Kids can search the library for famous Playmobil artists and earn a prize.
