SUMMARY:Unearth a Story: Join our 2026 Summer Reading Program!
DESCRIPTION:It’s summer at the Pierson\, which means it’s time for our annual Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme\, Unearth a Story\, invites you to explore the worlds of paleontology\, archaeology\, and discoveries that uncover stories\, knowledge\, and fun. Beginning June 13\, pick up a reading log and read three or more books. Return your completed log by August 15\, and your name will be entered into our grand prize drawings! Children ages 11 and under who complete and return their reading log will receive a ribbon granting them free admission to the Champlain Valley Fair. Plus\, one lucky winner in each age group (kids\, teens\, and adults) will receive a grand prize basket filled with gift cards\, experiences\, and more!

SUMMARY:Noontime Poetry Reading Society
DESCRIPTION:This group is for poetry readers\, poetry writers\, and the poetically curious alike! For the first half hour we take turns\, taking the lectern and reading aloud together from whole poetry collections. Whenever we finish one\, we vote on the next. We’re currently reading Women Poets from Antiquity to Now. The second half is devoted to poetic reflection\, news\, and the sharing of poems of your own (that you’ve written\, recently discovered\, or old faves) There’s a take-home prompt at the end for your own poetic practice. We hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Unearth a Story: Reading of Pee on Water
DESCRIPTION:Join us after our regularly scheduled Noontime Poetry Society for a special reading by librarian Jasper Oliver of Rachel B. Glaser’s short story “Pee on Water\,” which\, in keeping with this year’s archaeological summer reading theme\, is a poetic retelling of the whole shebang\, from cosmic spark\, through evolution\, to now. Immediately following this reading attendees are invited to share a favorite short poem or micro fiction that likewise tells either the story of our universe or the tale of our species. Then we will all sit together in quiet reflection before the timer dings on another fine event.
