SUMMARY:Unearth a Story: Join our 2026 Summer Reading Program!
DESCRIPTION:It’s summer at the Pierson\, which means it’s time for our annual Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme\, Unearth a Story\, invites you to explore the worlds of paleontology\, archaeology\, and discoveries that uncover stories\, knowledge\, and fun. Beginning June 13\, pick up a reading log and read three or more books. Return your completed log by August 15\, and your name will be entered into our grand prize drawings! Children ages 11 and under who complete and return their reading log will receive a ribbon granting them free admission to the Champlain Valley Fair. Plus\, one lucky winner in each age group (kids\, teens\, and adults) will receive a grand prize basket filled with gift cards\, experiences\, and more!

The second half is devoted to poetic reflection\, news\, and the sharing of poems of your own (that you’ve written\, recently discovered or old faves) There’s a take home prompt at the end for your own poetic practice.

SUMMARY:An Archeological History of the Eastern Champlain Valley
DESCRIPTION:Vermont State Archaeologist Jess Robinson will give an overview of a precontact Native history of the Eastern Champlain Valley from the first human entrants in the region until the time of European contact as it has been revealed through archaeology. He will highlight some notable archaeological sites and offer insights into the first peoples of the region gained from over 50 years of professional archaeological work in Vermont. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
