SUMMARY:Monday Morning Book Club: If Anyone Builds It\, Everyone Dies
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a discussion of If Anyone Builds It\, Everyone Dies: Why Superhuman AI Would Kill Us All by Eliezer Yudkowsky\, an urgent and provocative examination of the existential risks posed by artificial intelligence. Drawing on decades of research into machine intelligence and alignment\, Yudkowsky argues that the global race to create superhuman AI is placing humanity on a path toward catastrophe. The book explores how sufficiently advanced AI systems could develop goals misaligned with human survival\, why such systems would be impossible to control once created\, and how even well-intentioned efforts could lead to extinction-level outcomes. Clear-eyed and uncompromising\, the book challenges readers to rethink technological progress\, responsibility\, and what it would take to change course before it’s too late. Copies are available at the first-floor circulation desk. New members are always welcome!
